Dear Mom

Dear mom,

I thought of some words that I wanted to say,
I hope I can arrange them in the correct way.

You taught me so much I don't know where to start,
perhaps keeping kindness and love close to your heart.

You never asked for much,
just the small things and such.

All you wanted was laughter and smiles,
you could make people feel warm for miles and miles.

So many people want to be rich.
You just wanted to catch a few fish.

Your house was not just walls, a roof, or a floor,
It was always a huge, wide open, front door.

You took in strangers and made them your friends,
If life were a storm you would protect them from winds.

Im sorry I did not get these words to you before now,
I guess before today i didnt know quite how.

I want you to know your love will be treasured.
I want you to know your life will be remembered.

But most of all above all other,
I am forever proud to call you my mother.
